Video Review

I reviewed the 4K UHD version of Kong: Skull Island movie and it looks great. Yes, most 4K versions of movies look better than the originals but they are not all made equally. But this is just a great looking movie. The colors were bright and the darker scenes were still clear. Watching it on a great TV and blu-ray player can drastically improve the movie's image quality as well.

Sound Review

This is another "older" movie whose implementation of surround sound has really impressed me. They just don't make movie soundscapes like this one anymore. It's a home theater enthusiast's dream. The surround sound is amazing! It actually uses all of the speakers. Their use of surround sounds when their attacked in the jungle or when Kong battles is fantastic. And the surround sound is used throughout this movie but mostly during the island scenes, of course. this may be an older movie but do not sleep on it's sound.

Summary

This is an entertaining movie that will use all/most of the surround speakers of your home theater. Unlike movies like "Ready Player One" where the surround sound is used primarily in a few scenes, Kong: Skull Island uses the surrounds throughout the most of the movie and definitely where you'd expect it to.
