Twister (Home Theater Review)

An unprecedented series of violent tornadoes is sweeping across Oklahoma. Tornado chasers, headed by Dr. Jo Harding, attempt to release a groundbreaking device that will allow them to track them and create a more advanced warning system. They are joined by Jo's soon to be ex-husband Bill, a former tornado chaser himself, and his girlfriend Melissa.

Video Review

This movie was released in 1966 but you can't tell watching this 4K disk! You will not be disappointed with the video quality at all. They did a great job of improving the quality of the film. They removed some of the film grain but maintained the original look of a 90's film.
Some of the special effects are noticeably dated but they're expected. All in all, it's a great looking film.

Sound Review

The use of surround sound is where this film shines. The surrounds are used for the movie score, per usual. But, the tornado scenes are where the surrounds and Dolby Atmos speakers really get a workout. The sound is immersive and it truly sounds like you're in the middle of a tornado. There are other more subtle uses as well like the scene when they're driving through the corn fields. You can hear the corn stalks slapping the sides of the vehicles coming from the side and rear surrounds.

Summary

This is a great movie to add to your home theater collection and to use as a demo for your Dolby Atmos speaker setup.
